Nursing School: Week 3 and a few extras

I have finished week three of nursing school. It sure will be nice to count my time passed as semesters rather than weeks! We took our first official test Tuesday and I made a B. We also took a dose calculations test on which I made a 100!! Still waiting on my first health assessment test grade from Thursday. So far I have learned how to perform hygiene care for patients, take all of the vital signs, assess pain, and calculate oral medication doses. On Tuesday we had the privilege of listening to a heart murmur and an abdominal aortic aneurism. It was an amazing first experience with real patients. Me, being the soft hearted person that I am, teared up as we were told the story of the aneurism and the surgery that will soon follow. I am going to have to man up! Or at least save my tears for the ride home. My Pops was told this week that he was rejected for the clinical trial to treat his IPF due to inconclusive lab results. I dont really understand why they would not just run the dang test again but hopefully if we are persistent we can get him in the trial. I keep trying to tell myself that everything happens for a reason. Tonight we had dinner with my Oma, who is leaving to move to North Carolina tomorrow. I sure am going to miss her. It seems like the more time that goes by, the less ties I have to Sylacauga. I have also been planning Jason's first birthday party. My baby will be one year old a week from today. That is so hard to believe. Reading over this blog I am realizing what a long and stressful week this week has been. No wonder I am so tired. This is my first blog from my new Dell Inspiron. Mine crashed a few months ago. I am getting ready to go cuddle up with my boys and crash for the night. I have been a bad girl, and did not study tonight. Guess that means I'll have to double up tomorrow, test Tuesday! Story of my life....
